Mobile LearNing System 1
The LS1 is a mobile desk and seating system for displaced youth ages 13 - 15 years old. With increases in displaced populaces, there is a large population of youth whose education is being disrupted or abandoned. The LS1 is made from “scrap” or “cheap” material that can be found in refugee camps, in a hardware store, or on the street. The goal of this furniture system is to make social and solitary learning available to displaced youth. It is portable and can be carried in a backpack. Materials used for this iteration of the desk are recycled bike tire, fehring strips, dowels, and tarps. The system can be easily replicated using other readily accessible materials on site.
